The video that they link to in the article is hilarious! I think I saw a video of this guy getting kicked off a drag strip for having no cage after running a sub-10 quarter mile. This car is insane.

Fairmonts are good sleeper material as they look pretty slow. The rear tires give away some hidden sportiness though.
I haven't seen many here but my friend used similar Fairmont for his custom car build years ago. He had found one with the original 302 engine. He swapped the body with something a bit more weirder. The driveline, suspension and floor section remained pretty much untouched. The engine got some performance upgrades and it was pretty awesome car to drive.
Swapping a body was still possible if the car had certain amount of original parts left. Now it cannot be done anymore so easily. This is how it looked (it's carrying different color now). The body is pretty interesting because the left side has only one door.
